A GAPS update

Oh hello there. You’ve found some very old content. Please read the disclaimer on this page before thinking I’m still a total sheep who has been sucked into a bone-broth worshipping fad diet. Been there, learned from that and am now a much less rigid human.

It’s been since this post that I’ve done a GAPS update and I figured it was time for another one.

I’m half on full-GAPS, half stuck between stage 5/6.

GAPS Status: It’s complicated.

unnamed (1)

  • I’m going great guns with raw veggies – stage 5
  • I’ve introduced some very ripe banana – stage 6
  • I’m eating coconut cream – some say stage 3 or 4, others say stage 6/Full GAPS (it’s one of those nutritional grey areas that tends to come down to personal tolerance)
  • I can go a day or two without bone marrow or connective tissue and still seem to function normally (but still have my broth daily, or double up doses if I’m planning to miss a day of slow-cooking for whatever reason. Read why here)
  • However I’m yet to introduce apple (except for the tiniest amount fermented in sauerkraut)
  • I don’t think I’ll be doing any sweet baking for a long time – maybe ever. I’ve really outgrown the sweet cravings for cakes and biscuits and would rather just stick to these muffins (which by the way I now make with activated macadamias, melted coconut oil (no butter) and farm fresh eggs … next level satisfaction!)

look how poofy they are

I’m loving the increased variety of foods I’m tolerating and am even branching out with the types of veggies I’m buying; lots of fresh parsley, baby beets, zucchini and a lot less reliance on cauliflower!

My next post will be a day on my plate update, to give you all a glimpse of my now, less soup-relaint diet.

Yours in love, giggles and gastrointestinal obsession,

Rachie

  1. Hi Rachel,
It was nice to read an update and hear you are well & progressing! It was interesting to read about Kultured Wellness as right now I’m half way through listening to the Up For A Chat Podcast with Kristy. Once I’ve used up my shop bought coconut kefir, I think I might buy a kit from Kultured Wellness and have a go at my own.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.

    1. Thanks Audra, I’d definitely recommend the cultures, they are so strong and you really get your money’s worth. Hope you’re enjoying your weekend too. Lovely to hear from a fellow Adelaidian xxx
