BILF (Bowl I’d like to …)

Well not actually, though I have been known to make suggestive noises when I bite into sumptuous preparations, I do not, repeat DO NOT, make love to my food. Hopefully, however, I grabbed your attention with the title, and now you’re thinking; hmmm orgasmic dinner bowl … I’m intrigued.

This tasty bowl is …

  • Addictive – I’m warning you now
  • A complete source of protein – all essential amino acids are represented
  • Rich in nourishing fatty acids – may your skin, brains, gonads (I’m serious) and hormones drink them in. Cheers.
  • Poop-producing fibre  – so much roughage. Glorious!
  • Easily prepared in advance – busy beavers rejoice!

‘Hug in a bowl’ Amazeballs Stew

This stew came about because I had way too many beef marrow bones in the freezer and needed to use them up.

In the nineteen months I spent on GAPS, I craved slow cooked meats, particularly the connective tissue from around animals bones. I kid you not, I  happily ate little bowls of slimy, creamy connective tissue for dessert while my family ate chocolate cake around me. I thought that THEY were the ones missing out!

Black-belt Bowl

Holy Moly this meal is a winner! Black bean noodles are a brill pasta or noodle replacement and taste so authentic. I love how rich in protein and fibre they are, plus the antioxidant content helps combat the oxidative stress of everyday wear and tear. Paired with a funky broccoli smash plus the totally addictive sweet and salty combo of coconut aminos-roasted almonds, pepitas and dates, this Black-belt Bowl is a nutrient-dense flavour bomb.

“Fish & Chips”

This is a genius way to make the most of fresh sardines – which are much sweeter than the tinned variety. And, I find, less gag-worthy.

Thrifty Lamb Soup

If you haven’t figured out yet from this post and this post, I really hate seeing a quality lamb leg go to waste after a roast. It’s virtually impossible to strip all the meat away, and seeing flesh go in the bin is such a sad sight. Thankfully, this is a sight we needn’t see  – enter Thrifty Lamb Soup, which, as the name suggests, allows us to be thrifty, ensuring that no part of that beautiful animal goes to waste (plus you get a delicious and dirt-cheap meal out of the whole experience – plus you kitchen will smell divine). Winning all round!

Sex-noise Salmon with Seductive Veggie (s)Mash

This meal is seriously worthy of it’s kinky title. The salmon alone will induce the foodgasm of a lifetime. No joke, you’ll be hard pressed to contain the urge to happy dance in your seat and grunt with delight as you savour each flavour-bomb mouthful. Then you discover the seductive  bed of mixed vegetable mash. The playful side dish keeps drawing you back for more as you take time to appreciate the moorish creaminess, subtle spiciness, addictive sweetness and grounding saltiness. The crispy skin garnish takes the presentation and texture to another level – who doesn’t love a well-seasoned, absurdly crunchy and deliciously fatty salmon skin?

Totes Amaze-Bowl!

At this time of year, it can be tempting to over-complicate things. This Amaze-bowl is super quick, easy and nourishing. A satisfying, yet light combo of “on-hand” ingredients.

I made these babies last night for a pre-Christmas drinks and dinner catch up that we had with a close  family friend. She loved it – especially the macadamia butter element!

Leftover Lamb Leg & Gravy

If a sweet little lamb is going to be sacrificed for human nourishment, then it’s only fair that not one remnant of that baby sheep goes to waste.

Smashing Sardine Salad

Another “throw-it-together” meal (like yesterday’s salmon recipe) that is super-duper simple and packs a flavour punch. As long as you’ve dedicated time to innovative meal prep earlier in the day or week, you can have this baby ready in mere minutes.
